How To Create Decorative Seasonal Flags

By Arline Bradley

If you want to do something new, then try making seasonal flags out of your own hands. This can either be a personal or a community project. However, regardless of your reason for having this activity in mind, let no stop you from being creative from time to time. Provide yourself with the opportunity to shine and simply follow the steps written below.

The first material that you actually need to have for this project is a reliable fabric. This kind of product would allow your decorative seasonal flags to be in the same condition for the years to come. Thus, be able to find woven polyester from your local store if possible.

Second, determine how big you would want your finished items to be. If you desire the whole neighborhood to see your creative designs, then you would need to exert your effort in creating bigger versions of these items. Only go for smaller sizes if you have a limited group of audience in the first place.

Third, be ready to cut the clothing material into pieces. If you already have sharp scissors in your household, then the better. If you have accidentally acquired more fabric than you intend to use, then do not be afraid to ask for the assistance of your loved ones.

When it comes to the allowance needed by your flags, you would have to stick with the basic one and a half inch measurement. The allowance is required to be present in all the seams of the cloth. Otherwise, you would not be able to secure the position of every side of the flag.

As for the seams on the fabric, you are required to start practicing placing a straight line of stitch on these parts of the clothing material. The line will have to be clean and fine so that everyone would truly be awe on what you have done with a piece of cloth. After that, you can already brag about your quality work to all the people you know or even to complete strangers as well.

Once everything has already been settled with the seams of your material, then you would have to let your creative juices start flowing. You will need to use your artistic eye when it comes to choosing among the fabric paints that you would be able to find in a small or large hardware store. You will also have to welcome yourself to the world of stenciling.

As for the other things that you can do on your flags, you could actually use a soap to serve as the marking chalk of your cloth. The actual chalk is still an applicable option but you would have to prepare for rougher effects. Also, this item can sometimes be harsh on delicate skin. Thus, you are recommended to buy a soap bar instead.

By this time, you might have already realized that this process is all about your creativity level. It would not require much of your time and it would not even cause you to exert a lot of energy. Thus, feel free to let your artistic nature guide your way.
