Benefits Of Using Reusable Name Tags

By Ruth Kelly

In this economy, companies need to find all sorts of ways to cut back on operational costs. Employee badges seem like a mundane budget item to focus on but if looked at cumulatively it could make a difference on the bottom line. By using reusable name tags, the company is able to utilize the same item over years and different personnel changes. This saves the time and cost required by that little item.

The customers would appreciate knowing the name of their server since they would not have enough time to learn and remember the name because they will not work for too long. This will save the employee the embarrassment of having to remind their name every single time. These badges also come in handy in big companies with thousands of employees. How does one know they are in the elevator with someone who could change the trajectory of their career?

For this badge to withstand time and utility by different people, it needs to be hardy. It needs to be resilient and stubborn towards harsh handling. Thus, it needs to be the best possible quality. Splurge once and get done with it. It would defeat the purpose of reusable badges to get a low-quality item that will break down before maximum benefit has been reaped.

The company could go for a generic badge with nothing on it. It will be a blank slate for the company to do with as it pleases. Whether it is to write with a marker or to print something fancy on the insert. It will be all on the company that buys the badge.

It is also possible to have the company supplying the badges print the logo but leave space to insert names. The insert required for the names will be removable. There are different options for this. It could be a single line meaning that only the names will be written. They could also be double lines for a name and position. Then there is the multiple line kind, which allows for more information like department or branch.

This should go without saying but script or cursive should be kept off the badge. The information should be in big bold block letters. Preferably, in a dark color that can be read from clear across the room. If there is a choice of just one name then go with the given design. Unless of course, the person prefers to be called by their surname. Also, forgo nicknames unless it is a casual setting.

Imagine an event planner who handles conferences and company retreats. This planner is going to need new badges every time. However, if they have this type they can cut the cost of that particular overhead and concentrate on other aspects. There will be a bit of a challenge getting all of them back but it can be arranged.

Party planners only hire wait staff based on need. They are not required to be full-time employees of the company. This also means that there will almost always be a new team member every time. A badge that can be used each time whether or not the planner could get hold of the previous servers would be useful.
