How To Make Your Home Smart

By Rebecca Walker

Technological advancement is on a mission to run all home tasks remotely, on the phone and through the internet. Tech experts are also looking for ideas to reduce energy consumption. They have proposed different measures on how to make your home smart without spending a fortune. This is through gadgets and devices that are easy to use and cost effective.

A WIFI thermostat defines a smart home or living area in most circles. It works by identifying different conditions and saving them for speed dial. For instance, it identifies your most preferred temperature, humidity, wind, and such conditions. By the time you get to the house as programmed, you will enter into a house that meets these conditions. You do not have to deal with each appliance at a time. With your phone, you customize different modes for your house and activate then with a click.

The mood of a room can be determined by its lighting. These adjustments are done via the phone due to advances in technology today. This happens through the use of hue bulbs that allow the room to take your desired color and brightness. In the process, you will be saving a few dollars through reduced energy consumption.

The nest protect is a device that detects air quality indoors and alerts through a loud sounding alarm whenever it detects danger. Some of the gases that this gadget will detect include carbon monoxide that would be potentially fatal for the entire family. For sloppy cooks, you may need to turn down detection of some gases unless you want the alarm to go off every time the toast gets roasted.

While the world is saturate with Bluetooth speakers, they still depend on manual control. The latest technology is where you call out the name of a song, it is searched live and streamed through the speakers. This happens through customizing your search voice. You do not have to create a list with your memory stick and then have to bear with continued repetition. The songs play as if you are just thinking them off head.

Net streaming cameras are on mobile devices already. But they have been taken a notch higher by enabling you to stream proceedings from a remote location. When installed at your door, you will see the visitor knocking, talk to him or her over loud speaker and take necessary actions like opening the door or raising an alarm. This is the best option when you have kids who have to be monitored.

How about controlling the amount of energy consumed by gadgets at home? There is a plug that gives you automatic control by switching off what you are not interested with. You just need to connect appliances and program them to shut off or on based on personal preferences. You do not have to waste energy on idle appliances.

Smart technology comes in different formats. You will need to make a decision on the gadgets to install. You even have the option of cleaning the floor or locking doors from your phone and remotely. All this technology comes at a price but with good decision making, the price will be worth.
