Crowdfunding For Women And Why Its Important

By Alta Alexander

Crowdfunding is a rather new concept. Crowdfunding for women is one way to raise money for a number of different type projects. As such, each and every woman whomever wanted to become an entrepreneur may want to check out these new opportunities. While there are multiple websites associated with the process directed only at supporting women based start-ups, some are better than others.

As the ideology behind the process is fairly new, there is a lot to be learned. As such, both men and women are now providing presentations and workshops related to this new aspect of funding a project. One of the best ways to learn about this new process is to review a number of campaigns and projects. Some of which can be found on websites like Kickstarter, Pine Alley and others which host projects desiring financial support.

Many of these women oriented sites have now seen twice the success as others in the industry. While others have seen success, one of the most successful related to women in business is that of Pine Alley. Most likely because it is one of a kind in its funding, development and deployment of products and services established by and for women but in which men can also provide funding.

In some cases, men may support these campaigns. Whereas, there are also sites which are totally dedicated to projects which are created and funded by women. A rather large network of which is now forming around the world to support one another over the course of a campaign and well into the completion phase.

Whether a dedicated site or one which allows posting and funding by all genders, most offer a clear plan. A plan generally includes step by step instructions from start up through completion of a campaign. A campaign is considered complete once it has been funded and the product or service has been made readily available to the public.

As the websites also benefit financially and with regards to positive reviews, most are happy to share this information free of charge. Although, there are others in which these fees help pay overhead and keep the site in operation. One important aspect on the part of the user, and those running these websites is that the individuals or groups have the necessary knowledge and information to take the campaign from start-up through completion.

Otherwise, the campaign or project while possibly obtaining funding may hit a roadblock. If this happens, then most often all monies obtained up to that point and time must be returned to each provider. Although, while most sites require this to be the case, there are a few which will allow the monies to stay in escrow while the individual obtains the necessary knowledge to complete a project.

Other opportunities for obtaining funding include applying to shows like Shark Tank, or going through traditional banks, credit unions or financial firms to obtain the monies needed for a start-up. While this is the case, not all have the credit or skills necessary to obtain these type funds. As such, crowdfunding has found an online presence which can help others obtain, fund and support various projects.
